Biography

I began my college career at Ithaca College strictly as a film student. Throughout much of my childhood I enjoyed making home videos with my friends, and felt that this would be the way I wanted to spend my professional career. I became involved as a crew member in many student films in addition to my own, as well as a crew member for multiple television shows on Ithaca's student-run television network, ICTV. Many of my student films can be seen under the "My Work" tab above.

After about one year in the film program, I became curious about what other possible interests I could have. This curiosity led me to take an intro to programming course in Adobe's Flash program. I ended up loving programming, and seemed to pick it up and excel at a very fast pace. From there I chose to add a minor in game development, since I myself am an avid gamer and loved being able to create games for others to enjoy. Adding the minor added great opportunities for me, as I began to take more in-depth classes, including an advanced web programming class where I gained a lot of practical knowledge on creating dynamic and functional websites.

After a semester of taking courses for the game development minor, I decided that I enjoyed computer science and programming enough that it should be more than just a hobby. I turned my minor into a full second major in computer science and began to dive deeper into the field, learning more programming languages like Python, Java, C++, C, Objective-C, and more advanced web programming. Since then I have stayed very active in the computer science department here at Ithaca College, working as a Teacher's Assistant in many of the entry- and advanced-level programming courses in order to help incoming students learn to love programming as much as I do.

I'm also very involved as a programmer in the on-campus Game Developers club, and continue to make my own games during my free time. I also stay active in the campus community, playing percussion in the Campus Band and in the recently created Ithaca College Gamers Symphony Orchestra, where we play orchestral arrangements of music exclusively from video games.

I've come to love computer programming and have a deep respect for those who do it professionally on a daily basis. I can easily see myself doing something in the vast field of computer sicence as a full-time career, whether it be software engineering, working as a web designer, creating iOS apps for companies, or even creating games for others to enjoy. I'm very excited to get out into the working world to see what I can accomplish.
